Here's a way too long slide show from a trip to Oregon last weekend. waterfowl, lichen covered Oregon white oaks, and a waterfall. I shot 500 images in a coupla hours each day...

I was in Eugene for the excellent Steve Sillet/Robert Van Pelt lecture...they're old growth canopy researchers, for those of you who don't know of them......

Enjoy:

I've been shooting lots of wildlife lately. Just check my flickr site.

Here's one of the appx 500 shots from yesterday:

This was shot about 100 yards away from an 80 nest heron rookery, with a Canon 7D, equipped with a 300 f/2.8 and 2x teleconverter, so effective focal length is 960mm....

Well, we have had a coupla rainy days. But the trees in their fall plumage are spectacular. Here's a slide show of images here and there, close up, and not so close, from the last few weeks.

We pruned this superb copper beech about 7 years ago. Time for more! It's fast approaching 5 feet dbh!

I climbed a pine, then pulled up a pack loaded with water, two camera, and my big 6 pound 300 m lens, in order to look down at the ospreys, that I've been following since April 18, when I started this set with a bang...well, birds don't actualy copulate as do mammals..but they appeared to be having fun....

the latest shots in the show are from yesterday's climb...Ballard Ospreys - a set on Flickr
