Who should pay for this

A subbie climber of mine broke three bt lines with one branch undeniable negligence on their part.

 

They felled a tree which i specifically told take it down in two as it was to close to the lines i went to tip off and they tried to fell it in one.

 

Am i right to make them foot the bill ?

Depends on if you rely on them a lot mate. If they make you good coin and you have plans on having them in again, I'd overlook it and pay it myself. I'd make damn sure he knows he's paying for the next mistake though....

If he was worth his salt, he'd offer to pay for it himself mate!

I know of a few situations where the Boss of a firm has asked freelance climbers to dismantle and they've clear-felled and broken stuff - they paid for it.

Same as. if they refuse i don't know how you will make them pay mind!

 

They need reminding that your the boss on the job and if you say it comes down in 500 bits thats what happens!

Yeah he is paying for it i made him put his name down to bt so they bill him lol.

 

Just could not believe it even when i said exactly what to do, oh and he cut the spliced eye off my rope so i made him pay for that to i
