Prussik is the same with everyone.

VT needs a bit more tuning. 3 and 2 works for me, 4 and 3 is Franks choice.

You need to play about a bit with your rope/hitchcord/weight/climbing style/over-under wraps till you sort it, which is why quite a few try it, have a scary moment, then bin it.

Personally I wouldn't go back to a Prussik, but that's because I was prepared to put a bit of effort into sussing out the VT.

I firmly believe that all new climbers should start on a Prussik, because it is so bulletproof and you can get yourself down in almost any situation using a Prussik (made of your bootlace if need be).

Technical glitch, what I meant to say was would you still ride on square wheels after you had discovered round ones?

The choice is with you my friends.

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

Watch guys like Steve Bullman and Rich Rule climb. It looks like they can't be bothered. Then they are at the tip. Peace.

Dean, Max for a 3 wrap 2 braid VT I use a 23 inch end to end cord. Nice and compact and it tends well once high enough.

If your tieing with double fishermans at each end you need another 10 inches per knot. so a piece of cord 43 inches in total seems to be the kiddie for me. tried it on all different combos. currently using a bit of beeline on the new Yale rope. lovely.

going to measure mine but i recon itsabout 50" eye to eye am i the only person who likes there vt long??? never been a fan of short hitches liked the control but could never get on with them ascending they jam up to much like the euroe prussiks.

Jam too much??? I can grip my knot and zipline to the deck from 20feet in about 2 seconds??

I like it short for close control and when leaning right out on tip reductions and you just need that extra couple of inches, the vt is fairly near my hand for releasing.:thumbup1:
