A swarm of bees invaded our barbecue yesterday and made home in the garden. It was quite scary and noisy.

They settled down so I thought I would get a pic.

Is there not a way you can claim a swarm and "put" them in a hive? Think of the honey...

Maybe, but I would rather they decided to move on. I was not too keen on them, but faced my fears to take the pic. Even though hundreds of them were buzzing round me i got within 500mm of the cluster and not one settled on me.

 

Little bit worried about the grandchildren playing anywhere near it though, and it is near their swing.

Found these little critters today. They were in an old rockery which we were digging up to lay a new shed base. I had a look through this thread and it seem they are cockchafer grubs...

We also found a slow worm but I didn't get a photo😞

Just a few shots off my phone from the last few weeks.. Can anyone cast an objectional eye over the click beetle picture[sorry poor quality] was wondering if it's a violet click beetle, guess the chances are its not?
