the binders may be nicer but a good whisker south of england looks the business. can not understand with midland why it has to have a short back and sides one side. still a good style but the rolls of styles is south.:thumbup:

I lay Midlands, Stafford and Derby usually. Sometimes I lay what may be loosely termed 'South' but bind it Midland or Stafford so it becomes 'bastardised':001_smile: Never tried your binding and would need to look at it I think. Are you going to the Cotswold match?

I only side them up if thier roadside so cut it back roadside and leave brush on field side, if its between two fields I leave brush both sides which is also known as midland bullock.

Had a great day with Hedgesparrow up at Cranborne. Nice bit of blackthorn to lay but a hell of alot of clearing out of the old stuff. The wasp nest under the Oak tree made it interesting. Did a pair of large blockthorn with the chainsaw which will need a very good sharpen now. Got a good stretch done though and the stew in the Viking long house was very nice.

be there 7th december come over say hello re hedge after clearing all the dead out as it was laid before. root stock which re pleached other was just wiskars. Matt pleached a cracking thorn two joined together 20 ft tall pleached one then the other and down they both came cleaned it up and put on top of other pleaches. those who came to see how it was done looked open mouth that we was going to lay it but it worked. jaspers got a bit touchy at end stayed away poxy things. had a hot stew in viking longhouse for lunch.
