Felling of a ~160yr old 25m tall Copper Beech Tree - Chiswick, West London

Humorous video of ~160yr old Copper Beach Tree being felled in Chiswick, West London.    Terminal root root as result of Meripilis Giganteous / Giant Polypore infestation.  Tree considered dangerous.  Neighbour's tree - initially refused to do anything about it, so had the get the Council to lean on neighbour.      No machinery access, so all felled timber had to be hand carried from rear garden to road at front.  I man up tree with chainsaw, another on the ropes and two men permanently clearing up - ~40 man days to get to stump level !

Are you saying it was 4 man team there for 10days?

 

Other than that I can relate to taking out large mature specimens in South London.  In fact far too many of them. Proper ballache.

That is a very long time for one tree.  We did some monsters but never took that long.
