Same here, starting later tomorrow and expecting a long, busy shift.

We're in a red area, got a warning from government on my phone earlier.

The forecast is heavy rain and wind gusting mid 80's but they've been wrong before.

Stay safe everyone. My friend at the Met Office reckons there is a good chance that the all time record for highest ever wind speed in Ireland will be broken (currently 182kph).

I've never seen forecast wind speeds like these before. This is for a village on the west coast called Carna.

For reference 47 m/s is 170kph and is verging on a category 3 hurricane.

Likewise: can’t remember predicted wind speeds this high.

Here is the forecast for Islay, with gusts over 90mph for all Friday daylight hours.

Duvet day if you can. 🙈
