Yeah, the batteries are the expensive part so if you have another brand you'll save a lot on a bare tool.

Milwaukee Fuel M18 for me but everything I have got is Milwaukee . If you are a Makita man and have the batteries and charger I would think its the way to go Mark . @Mark Bolam

It's not as powerful as the 1001 but much less of a lump to wave about.
