There is a fine line I think, turn up in a rust bucket and you'll get suspicions about the quality of your work. Turn up with 2 brand new trucks, a brand new pick-up and again, questions thought.

 

I wouldn't worry about age - would be a petty customer who runs out to check the reg plate to see if it was this years or last years truck - but would worry more about if it is tidy and presentable. 20 year old Transit that is in good nick or a battered 1 year old, the 20 year old would give me more confidence. Would help if it was all logo'd up rather than a white van with only a mobile number on the side.

I have put my prices for domestic up alot as well as charging for quotes outside of where I want to work. No one has taken me up on the "£100 refundable at sale " condition of an out of town quote.

 

Repeat customers I will quote for out of town but not new ones. Easy to waste 2.5 hours or more.

 

The real money is in commercial here.

Of course the youngest of the proper defenders is now 8 years old, unless your talking the hairdresser one badged as a defender?  My 60 plate one is definitely showing character and it’s me getting to look more shabby🤔. The transit as a workhorse is a difficult one to get right if you don’t want to get confused with the travellers, but avoid the external sun visor, sign written to cover everything that can be carried out on someone’s property from drives to roofing with everything in between?When approaching the house remember to breath in and not ware brand new PPE and rigger boots😳
