Pollard of beech & oak

Hey Guys

2 trees I’m extremely precious about as I grew up and lived in this property; where my brother now lives with his family. Pedunculate Oak and Copper Beech. Oak 100-150 years and beech similar or older. My question is how well will these 2 trees react to a pollard or heavy crown reduction. Pollarding to 5-6 metres. They both have no competition as the conifer in the photo is at least 15 metres away. Sorry about the poor photo of the oak.
PS The house is called Beechwood!

Badly is  likely as pollards are best created on trees which are less mature.

Will likey end up with decay in large cuts  and prehaps a mass of  ugly  lions tail effect  new growth requiring ongoing work

More chance with the oak doing better than beech as they generaily  responses better than beech and it has already some branches which could form a lower canopy.  The beech has being crown raised alot so won't have much foilage left after pruning.

Leave alone or cut grounf lvl is best uness they want to faff about  with maybe staged  reductions etc  to give them chance is developing a lower crown etc

Or beech removed  & oak topped maybe.

If you like them so much and have such a sentimental value, why butcher them?

Or

Is your brother thinking they are needing a ‘good crowning’ as the door knockers would say and you are asking if they will handle it?

More information needed.
