Driveway resurfacing over TPO roots

Anyone have any experience specifying driveway surfacing over a TPO tree roots?

A client wants to relay the drive.  As there's existing surfacing there can they just relay with a porous surface or would they need a no-dig cellular confinement solution?

Footprint of the driveway will stay the same.

My initial thoughts were a no dig cellular system but then when pondering it, wondered if that was over complicating it and just a careful re-lay with something porous would be ok?

Any thoughts appreciated

What a shitter.  Can't they just solder on as is? Or what about that plastic stuff that comes in sections with holes in and back filled with pebbles type job?

Any driveway over that existing is asking for trouble....

A driveway that can flex breathe and drain is a must there for the tree and clients pocket

Can't quite see but looks like the garage has been converted so no longer used, could they make the new driveway over the other side of the garden?

Looks like the banking is higher but that wouldn't take long to shift with a digger and cost of a simple standard drive vs tree friendly would probably put a lot towards that.

Here goes the client/customer billydoo again 😄

It's important, if the guy is getting paid to give professional advice to a client then the standard is very much higher than if he's being asked to put a driveway in. It would definitely affect the way I would comment.

A silly question that might not be so silly... what caused the end of the drive to crack in the first place?

(suspect that the tree roots are cracking the drive and in which case, put in another solid drive, in 10 years time you will be in the same situation again, cracked drive.)
