Anyone done this recently? Just done mine and at the end of the process there was a statement to say that I've to send the old one back to them straight away, after cutting in two. I'm reluctant to do this as I don't fancy being without one for however long it takes the DVLA to get their arse into gear and send me a new one.

Do I need to bother to comply or not?

I would take a photo of it first including all you groups . Its not un heard of for them to leave some off . There was a a story a while back where a motorcycle cop hap his license come back with no motor cycle entitlement on it . They were adamant that it was all correct . In the end he had to take his test again ! Bonkers .

Cheers. I saw that about the DVLA occasionally losing entitlements as well. Did some digging online after I posted on here, the consensus seems to be that you don't need to send back the old one as you get the new sent anyway. So I'll not bother.

I need to renew mine next year, thought it was going to be a right faff as I lost my whole wallet a couple of years ago. Had a look into it when my mum renewed hers a few months ago, there's an option for  if you've lost the current one so no problem.

I think it's technically an offence to hold two driving licenses, like it used to be an offence to not sign the paper one - first time I had to present my licence to a copper at 17 he kindly reminded me.

Who's going to catch you though?

My first labourer applied for his provisional back when you got a pink paper one came back two weeks later, full licence with motor bike, mum made him send it back, came back same

Did mine 2 weeks ago, into post office with my old one, they took new picture and filled in all info on their I pad, i signed it and paid i think 19 quid and new one arrived 3 days later. They give you a receipt to prove they have sent your old one off if you get stopped.

By way of a follow up, just in case anyone was waiting with bated breath!

I received the new license on Saturday, so under a week from when I applied for it. Everything is present and correct. I'm well impressed. Still got the old one too, though I'll probably just cut it up and bin it now.
