Yeah, it's not like the diesel's weren't water cooled! What matters is how quickly manufacturers are honest and drop this dog from their lineup.

Well there's only really Honda and Briggs that would probably meet the emission guff in petrol.

 

That being said, are the problems down to being hidden away. Are lawn tractors also suffering a similar fate with these issues?.

Not really, none need such a high horsepower engine.

 

The issues, as usual, are down to the emmissions regs and arbitary cutoffs for machines often based upon weight classes, not what the machine actually does.

The biggest Honda make is the GX690 at 23hp. It’s why it’s fitted in the Arborist 130.

There is a injection model iGX800 at 24.9, but strange they don't make a twin cylinder model like Kohler & Honda.

 

But anything bigger than a lawnmower should be diesel IMO, it's added weight and expense but they must drink petrol like it's a alcoholic.

Now the towing laws have changed I don’t understand why manufacturers worry about the 750kg ceiling any more - just build them a couple of hundred kilos heavier if necessary.

There’s 20 year old TW150s out there for sale at the 6/7 grand mark. Probably only cost double that new.

Thats not false economy.

I take your point. For urban work and reductions they have a place.

Saying that, how much of the value is down to the fact that 20 years ago the machines were simpler and better put together? A sad reflection on "progress"?

Sub 750 still exists in Europe. Also consider costs, the petrol engined units  out a fair bit less than the diesel unit!
