Have you had your first fire yet?

Just an evening fire here for the last couple of weeks as we cook on it, heat water and it keeps the damp away. Not using much wood up which is good.

Lit the first one in mid September, but only 2 or 3 a week at the moment. Mainly because the wife complains it's cold

I dread the day my parents light their fire. It's 200 degrees no matter which room you are in!

Thank fook I only have to visit once a week to pick the kids up.

 

40 years of minimal heating with plain windows and no insulation has taken is toll me thinks.

Come round to ours, it rarely exceeds 30 deg C, honest.

Been on most nights and all day and night over weekends for about a month now. Saves putting the central heating on. Live in an old solid stone wall house so it can get quite cold without it.

I've had the stove on for maybe 6-8wks here; every night and most days and absolutely love it. Central heating has never been on; boiler only on for the hot water (Combi) so costing almost nothing.

 

* I'm getting through the wood/peat though 🙄

 

I'm looking for an inline fan system to divert some of the heat from the kitchen to the front of the house; lounge. Which often has its door closed, so doesn't benefit from the warm air moving through.

Ours has been on in the evenings for about a month now. It`s an economical wee fire & the house is well insulated. I cut & split my own wood, so this keeps bills down, hopefully it won`t be too severe a winter this year!

Have been using ours for a couple of weeks....the wife says she was cold when it hit 27 degrees C in the living room

Yes I've been burning since Mid Sept. Little fires in one of 2 small wood burners- lounge.

 

Heating still off till Nov1 unless I can eke it out a bit longer. Can't abide paying for LPG especially as it's gone up so much. 

 

Mrs is good about it....luckily. 

 

Roll on Apr 2023 when the heating goes off and Summer is round the corner. :-)

Not sure it really counts but I keep thinking we had our first fire in mid summer when a hollow Poplar trunk took hold while sectioning down, put that out asap with a hose though!
