My parents are victims of cowboy tree surgeons who are now blaming my mother.

If you passed high school biology I’d hope you would know that roots grow underground. How do you know they are still growing? Are you a mole?

Oops, I don't know the terminologies, but there are leaves growing out from where the roots have gone.

First of all. No a cherry tree won’t continue to grow once you cut it down to that level unless it’s magic. I am struggling to understand the argument here. The chaps who cut it down are now saying it’s coming back and the roots are a problem for an neighbours house? Why wound the company who cut it down now turn round and say it’s not enough?

Because the estate agent told them that it was still growing, and the neighbours were complaining about it. So the guys obviously didn't want to accept that because then they'd have to work more for free to finish the job they were paid for, so they blamed my mother for causing it to continue growing roots by watering it.

What was the reason for highlighting that your folks rent?

Because we're worried the landlord will give us the boot. The tree surgeons don't care, they're just using as a scapegoat so they don't have to work for free to finish their job. So they blamed us, the tenants, for causing the roots to grow by watering it, to try and swindle more money from the landlord.

Right I’m with you now. So bollocks. It is not still growing if it’s a cherry tree so end of discussion. I don’t know if anyone else hear has had a different experience but in the 16 years of doing my job I have never seen a cherry tree come back from a fell.

Bad English - I meant ground out a bit with a stump grinder machine..

By the way I just spoke to mother to clarify something. My mother said that the tree roots have grown into the neighbour's garden and they are sprouting new trees. Do tree routes sprout new trees like some sort of hivemind? My botanical knowledge has reached its limit. I am honestly confused now, because I have been told here that the tree is dead and can no longer grow roots.

There's two issues here.

Firstly, it seems they done their job OK, they removed the tree but if it's still suckering from the existing roots as appears to be the case, that's something different. I suspect as said before that if you just keep mowing the grass and suckers with it, it will eventually give up.

Secondly, they had no need to do something as retarded as blaming your mum for the suckering problem. I can't imagine they are dull enough to actually think that is correct so they were just making excuses when they had no need to.
