2511 on a stihl 10” 1/4 pitch bar and chain is with out a doubt the best climbing saw there is currently and has been in my opinion.
I would expect a year out of one if used seriously .. but even that would not put me off buying my 4th as power to weight wise and ergonomics you can’t beat it, even a seriously modded 150/151 wont be close performance wise.
have not picked up a 201 or 540 well maybes on two three occasions since using the 2511 and my modded 150’s have just been back ups.

Out of interest, what kills the poor little thing after a year??

I've not used the 2511 personally, but from what people say it's a cracking little saw.

I have got on well with all the Echo gear I've used, and my only complaint is that the parts backup has got a long way to go before it catches up with Stihl. This may have improved since I last ordered, but worth taking into consideration anyway.

Use Skyland Equipment for parts. They've got a decent stock and it's easy to find on their website. Bloody fast shipping too.

My current one was bought in Feb 2019, so I can't be using it too seriously!

It probably does 80% of my climbing work tbf. You must be going at yours like a hillbilly on his sister!

2511t is a Hero of a saw.

Use mine on a daily basis, doing everything from hedges to takedowns. bought in august 2020 so now 2 years old and going strong. I drilled out the muffler, and adjusted the carb accordingly after doing so. phenomenal bit of kit, and without doubt the best climbing saw I've ever used.

Ive got the 3/8 carving bar on it that came stock. personally not a fan of 1/4 pitch chains, they are annoying to sharpen and pinch too often IMO

If it was like Matts hedge trimmer, throwing it out of the nearest tree for being blunt, not working, not starting, because it is a Monday etc:(

No offence....happy days they were!

My 2511 is a temperamental bitch, so much so I don’t bother with it anymore.

As for sharpening the little picco chain I used the 4mm file, much easier, takes a lot off but at least it’s doable.

Do you know anyone with a good running 2511 that you could try a carb swap on? It only takes a few minutes as it must be the easiest saw to change out the carb.

So I've gone and bought a 2511 now. Should arrive in next day or two. Couldn't find the model with carving bar, they seem to be out of stock everywhere. But I'm happy enough to get going with the 3/8 bar for now. It's high time I replaced my old Stihl 160t battery saw for light work, I've had it 7 years and it's getting tired. Still works though even after clip broke twice and dropped out of tree twice. Those battery saws are tougher than they look.

Has a look at the 2500 today. Can't tell if it's a little heavier fully loaded than the 2511 but it looks promising.

I like that they haven't arsed about with an extra throttle lock like Stihl did.

We had a weigh the battery saw thread a couple of years ago, the 2500 is ever so slightly heavier than the 2511

I have the Makitas which I believe are fantastic value for money, if I was climbing full time I would probably get the echo 2500T as it's higher cutting performance at the same weight.
