Anyone still climbing with knots these days?

I do not climb much nowadays ...but still use blakes hitch as I have done for many , many years and have no problems , I use a foot ascender if a longer ascent , I like to keep things simple and think the knots are beautifully simple . I use both ends of the rope and no cambium saver unless it is necessary ...

I never got on with any of the mechanical devices - ZZ, spiderjack 2 and 3. And SRT doesn't really work for the work we do.

 

Have been on a VT with hitch climber for years, most versatile system out there IMO

Yes, I still use a Blake’s.

I have a ZZ but only use it on big climbs.

Same, except I only tried SJ once - that was enough.

If you have a long drag up after lunch , do you get the groundies / team mates to help pull you up or freeclimb on spikes whilst being belayed ...we use either system on bigger trees ...definitely  not prussic all the way !!!!!

I’m on a ZZ for double rope, but still love my VT for SRT.

Still on a wrench though, I’m too tight to get a Chicane like Joe!

Its not really an issue.

1. Climbing is ‘usually’ done by lunchtime.

2. I’m mostly TDs or repollards so I’ll just flip line up if I do have to go back up a tree after coming down.

3. Ladders
