what a nasty post :(

I agree

Unfortunately his posts seem to take this format with some regularity.

Having been an AAAC for the last 10 years working with Paul has been an absolute joy, the AAAC scheme wouldn't be a patch on what it is without his input and I'm pleased to to call him a friend as well as a colleague. My buisness wouldn't be in the position it is now without his input so I take the above post quite personally.

I did read the post, but it now seems to have disappeared - or is it just me?

Anyhow, it did seem a tad unhinged.  I do understand the frustration at pointless bureacracy in general - and there is a hell of a lot of it about let's admit (I don't mean the AA in particular by the way) - but I do think making things personal is unnecessary.

I have read many of Paul's posts and while I may disagree with some of them, he is always polite, helpful and constructive in what he posts.

That's my take anyway.

Yep your analysis is spot on…and of Paul, who has done more for the AA here on arbtalk than anyone.

I removed the post by the way.

Fair play Steve.  I know a forum is supposed to generate diverse opinion and this one certainly does that - it's just a shame that when we actually get a topic going that actually involves tree work (ie arb talk) it gets polluted.  If (and I mean if) someone decided that the ideas in the post you removed needed expressing, then there are better ways of getting a point across.

Hopefully Paul will remain encouraged to post, in the knowledge that his opinions / info is greatly appreciated - even when we do have sometimes quite strongly opposing views on some topics (but by no means all).

I think Paul would have been scared off long before now if he was going to be 😀

He'll get a copy of the post anyway so why don't you put it back up so everyone can see how nasty (and wrong) I am? If Paul's such a saint and benevolent, his character will be untouched.

Only one company I know of in my area enforcing double ropes for their staff(and I know quite a few companies). No one else is bothering thankfully.
I did hear that the one company is still using subbies who are climbing on only one rope though.

I have yet to meet anyone that climbs on two ropes yet.

Drove past an aa approved frim yesterday and the climber was only on one rope.

Is this allowed by the aa?

I think once you pay your fees and pass your assessment you can do what you want 😀
