It has been reported that Ukraine are no longer just defending . With the permissions to strike at the Russians across the border things are less tense .

@peds it's not a shaky grasp of history, history is never binary and is down to interpretation, that's why we have historians.

Just because Germany went on a little corporate expansion didn't make it WW2, most of Europe was taken quickly until it came to the borders of the UK and Russia and it became apparent what was happening to dissenters and cleansing in the years following.

As I've said we live in a different world, it'll never happen again with social media.

Imagine Pinochet, Pol Pot, Franco, Mussolini today.

The German advance didn’t stop at the British border, it stopped at the moat called The English Channel. If there was no channel and a land border they would have rolled up the UK pretty fast. The German advance also didn’t stop at the Russian border - it got  to within 6 miles of Leningrad and 20 odd miles of Moscow. If the front line hadn’t moved faster and further from being re supplied they probably would have defeated the Russians. If they hadn’t of attacked Russia and concentrated on the UK we’d probably be reading this in German?

They stopped at the borders of Gibraltar, they did occupy the channel islands tho.

Russia was always slowed partly because of it being winter but also the difference in railway gauge, which still exists today I think.

Spain was neutral. There were no German offensive forces in Spain, only intelligence and covert operations such as U boat refuelling etc. they could not of invaded Gibraltar from a so- called Neutral country without dragging Spain into the conflict.

Russian losses in men since the beginning of the invasion are fast approaching 600K . That includes dead , wounded , and deserted .  Putin causing  a fenominal  waste of life . Equipment losses are astronomical as well . 130mm towed artillery from the 1950s are being dusted off with a frantic search for 130mm munition .  It can't be sustainable .

I was watching some proper garbage on SM the other day. People claiming that there is no war in Ukraine and its all a big scam for Big something or another to move money about or some kind of shizel. Honestly, I dont believe that those people believe in that stuff, they must just be bored and are having a laugh, a bit like the flat earthers cemtrails crowd.

Entertaining for a bit though.

I know many won’t want to hear this, but if Trump gets in he is probably mad enough to end this shitshow by doing some kind of bonkers deal with his maniac Russian friend.

Total ceasefire/withdrawal for his 4 year term.

Then probably worse to come….

I think the war out there is still worse than we can possibly imagine.

Worse than the Strictly Come Dancing scandal, if you can believe that.
