550xp Fuel mix?

I run a 550xp mk2 and have always just played it manual-safe at 1:50, but I was talking to a chap today who reckons they run better on something closer to 1:60. Any thoughts on whether this is actually true? Also, just because it runs better, doesn't mean it's not got the potential to do long-term damage to it!

The factory says 50-1 so that is what you should stick too, I have no idea why he thinks it’s better at 60-1?

How do you measure a difference that small ? When I was mixing my own they got 50:1 but if there's a bit left in the measure after you mix what does that make it ?

Mmmhmm. And what's odd is as we were cutting (ringing), he needed to mix more fuel, as we'd burned ready mixed stuff through. An exact science it was not! Whatever  he put in, my Husky was deeply unimpressed and needed a part capful of oil to get it to go. It sounds like manual safe is the better option.

Use the husky XP oil. I put green stihl super oil in my 550 and it ran like a bag of shit more or less straight away. Sound rough like it was misfiring and wouldn’t idle. All those problems went away when I used the XP oil

Odd that . I use RedLine ( at 50:1) and no problems ....

All mine have been run on Stihl Ultra, Husqvarna XP and pre-mixed Aspen/Husqvarna. Can't tell any difference, they've all run fine.
