I have had 4x4 County Transit, 4x4 Iveco Daily, Landrover 109,110,127,130, Disco 4, Range Rover LSE, Isuzu Rodeo, Freelander and Ranger over the years.....

Ask yourself, do you really need a 4x4 or can you run two vehicles?  Anything Transit sized is pretty useless as an off road carrier unless the ground is good and hard. Anything  Transit sized is pretty awful on road too tbh! Off road in anything less than good conditions isn't advisable and more often a liability!

There’s no lack, pretty much all manufacturers offer them, just at a price which isn’t really justifiable to your average Arb co.

I think most manufactures here in Norway offer a 4WD version.  I am seeing more and more electric and hybrid versions as well.

Agree with Pete. You'll have change from running and insuring two or three spearate vehicles rather than one 4x4 do it all, and life's a lot easier when you have exactly the right vehicle for the job in hand.

When ever a question like this comes up, people always ask what tyres you running, lot cheaper to change tyres then invest in truck to get off grass verge.

Slight derail Paul, but anything you’d recommend for a Transit?

My cheapo Fedima AT’s need replacing and I can’t seem to source them any more.

I’m after something reasonably priced but with a bit more traction than standard road tyres.

Agree as well and in addition since having a van and a 4x4, I experience a vehicle breakdown to be a seriously relaxed situation in my bizz. That even calms when both are  running fine, as your always prepared to continue your work. Like an insurance, you pay for a peaceful mind.

I'm just off out on a little job- only down the road but it's great to be able to take both tipper trucks even if one is an LDV! 🤪
