I think the real real question is

Did they turn up on time?

Did they break anything?

Were they professional?

Did they clean up well?

If all of the above is good then the OP has done well and can't be faulted IMO

Thanks for the update.

Oh one more question... did you have to pay cash?

And some quoted 2k for the same job ?

We don’t know the full story Les, none of us were there.

I can guarantee I’ve done jobs for £1k that I should have put £2k on back in the day.

Looked a fairly straightforward big day to me, but lack of access pics didn’t help.

Glad you got it sorted OP, thanks for following up.

Think we have all be guilty of that at some point mark. Even the busiest of firms will go through quiet spells and bills need paying but its soul destroying working for half the real price.

They turned up on time first thing in the morning

Didn't break anything and were extremely professional. A team of 4 and they cleaned up very well.

There were no payment requirements

Can’t believe a team of 4 worked for so little. If you ignore the operational costs that’s just over £250 each for the day.

Madness.

3 of them would not have got 250 a day.

I realise that. With all the overheads, fuel, insurance, rent, maintenance, consumables, PPE etc etc. The main man might get £250 and the rest get pennies.

Imagine working in London, or anywhere really for that kind of pay? Its madness how little people value their time, knowledge and skills.

Its cutting down a stump mate. "Plenty of fat on the chops" for £750 even in London.Considering the only specialist kit required was a stump grinder, the arisings could have all been hauled away on a hired trailer behind a ford mondeo bought from autotrader for £500.

At what point in this whole thread where you lead to believe it’s just a Stump Grinding job? 🤷‍♂️
