it's only 7m from a proposed extension and the bco's will insist on piled foundations

the stump being removed was one of their requests, still cheaper than piles

Never had piles personally but had crabs once from a bird in scotland. 😖

Surely if the tree has been cut down and the stump poisoned to kill it and prevent any regrowth, then there would be no need to pile the foundations or grind the stump. Even splashing out on a few ecoplugs would be cheap enough and demonstrate it has been done “properly”...

I was thinking the same regarding the stump, I will try and get them to leave it and just throw some poison on

the tree removal is being done in order to remove the need to pile the foundations

What part of London? Also, they almost always insist on stump grinding for some reason.

We have felled many trees at various properties to allow the homeowner to save on the cost of having piles and the engineers/architects have always specified to grind the stump.

If North London we can get it done for £2k inc vat if you have side access. Would need to see a pic of the base/stump to confirm that price.

Does this not make sense?

I'd still pile the extension. Mini pilers get in tight spots n if yr on  Shrinkable  clay, its worth the peace of mind. London  is quite a big place so a borough location  might help. K

Genuine question. If you're piling then why the concern about stump grinding? Having it a couple of inches lower won't make any difference at all will it? Better off firing some ecoplugs into it if growback is a concern?
