Evaporating Fuel / Aspen

I suppose you have to factor temperature? Assume it works the same with petrol but I know you get slightly more diesel in the tank when the temps are low.  If my warning light is on when it's cold quite often it will go off as the day warms up.

I'm talking about variation in volume rather than evaporation specifically I guess.

I’ve never had this problem. Each time run out of Aspen I go to my local dealer and pick up 3-4 5l cans. Then when needed I decant them into my Stihl combi can and have always got to the 5l mark on the combi can. Depending on what work we are on those cans can sit in the shed for a few months. Have never the filled my combi can with a 5l and it’s come up short.

Have you considered buying a 25L container?!  I think the economic saving is pence but it seems a practical move

I am now, given the evaporation rate through the plastic.

There is a loss from a hand driven pump fixed to the container but I though I'd use a pump that you squeeze instead then seal the drum afterwards.

I buy the 25 litre drums, a small saving over the 5 litre bottles and a lot less hassle. I have a screw on tap that I bought on eBay, seals perfectly, drum lies horizontal on the work bench and doesn’t spill a drop when I decant.

Aeroflow dispenser for 20-25 litre containers. eBay item number 183696514855.

I wasn't impressed with them. Tried to use them for dispensing things like TRF, gave up and bought a caustic rated pump in the end.

Way too slow a flow rate and I still got airlocks.

They aren't even that great for decanting chain oil into smaller containers.

Plus I'd be a bit apprehensive about keeping large amounts of fuel other than diesel on site.

Maybe decant into a metal jerry can after purchase.

Not had any issues with them for decanting Aspen from a 25 litre to 5 litre can.
Slow with chain oil but still working fine without any spillages in the workshop.

I only use 5 litres fuel a day and less in chain oil so work fine for my needs.
