Groundie/climber current rates?

I know this has been discussed a few times and I've read through all those threads but there's nothing too recent or applicable to me because of location. Long story short I'm trying to create a better business plan and factor in costs etc and manpower seems to be the biggest variable.

 

What are you guys paying per day for a decent freelance groundie and a decent climber. I've had guys help me for £80pd who were great and ones who were £160pd and rubbish so I get that it's variable hence why I was wondering what you would be happy to pay for someone who's prompt, works hard, has their own kit and tickets etc. Let's say a groundie who has all the kit, experience rigging, all the climbing courses for rescue etc and a climber who's all of the above and works at a good speed? Obviously good workers who aren't on their phone and can converse with clients etc etc.

 

I'm in the south west so some input from guys closer would be good too as I know the pay varies a lot with geographic location!

When I retired from climbing in about 2008 my day rate was £275. I still do the odd bit as an excuse to keep my kit but now my day rate is £384. I'm in the south of England.

I usually charge around 130-150 for ground work with the 4 different contractors I work for. I bring my own saw, rescue kit and like to think I work hard enough. I also chuck in interesting lunch time conversation topics as a bonus.

A decent groundie is worth £100 with no tickets to £150 with all Ground tickets and experience and hard worker in my books but there is a shortage in Leicestershire

Paddy, Im still on recently qualified and started up myself so I've got a sub contracter coming out to help me on the weekends on bigger jobs whom I can gain experience on. He has all tickets including rigging etc. His day rate averages £200. £250 if we are on our feet all day.

If anything this thread is making me realise that I have had very good rates from guys in the past and also undepriced myself when I have worked for others haha!

Ha. Wouldn’t surprise me.
I was chatting to a rail side contractor. They were putting out a 3 man team at 650 a day. Must be paying staff peanuts but that probably goes some way to explaining the woeful standard of work they were doing.

Oddly, quite a lot of shit rates in Rail,  however a hell of a lot of companies looking fr staff so that must tell you something 😕  K
