I would love a wee diesel, but can't see many about that would be a good alternative for a Honda GX390 power wise, about 12/13hp?

This is on a farmi wp36 firewood processor. The current Honda gx390 runs great, and hasn't done much work, but I really need an electric start now, and it seems you can't easily convert these newer models to starter motor.

L100 or the 186f clone.

Thats my plan when mine gives up.

I have a few L100's from generators that have busted.

Down side for me is that I will also have to up grade to braked axles at the same time as the wp30 is right on the 750kg limit.

From what I've read, it's only a straight fit on the older model honda gx engines

I bought an electric start Honda for my Farmi WP36. Didn't cost a 1k. The engine was a Honda GX390UT2 QXE4 for £780 from these guys

I have had 2 loncin engines on crane trailers and both have been taken off because they ran like crap after a very short time, both trailers now run Honda gx200, I have just replaced the oldest one that has been on for about 5 or 6 years and abused, still runs OK but thought I would replace as I rely on them so much.
Just bought 2 new Honda's from justhonda.co.uk they had pretty good prices.

Whilst I'm a great believer in "you get what you pay for", does anyone use a Loncin or Lifan honda clone engine? Don't know if there is much between the 2 brands?

How do they hold out to years of use (and abuse!)

Genuine honda gx390 with electric start looks about £1k, maybe £500 for a Loncin or Lifan time you included delivery and vat.

I got that pissed with Honda that I stripped all of the small machines that Honda engines on and replaced with loncin, touch wood have been faultless compared toy the new Honda engines they replaced

I’ve got a loncin engine and it’s been no bother, starts on second or 3rd pull even if it’s been left for 6 month or more. It’s got to be best part of 5 yr old and never had any maintenance past a oil change and spark plug wire brushed off and tapped on the concrete or had a combo spanner jammed in it to set the gap!
