May not cause the engine any issues, but as i understand, the pulley ratios have been changed, and rest of the chipper redesigned to compensate for the lower power.

 

Upping the power, and the revs, the rest of the machine will take more of a battering?

 

Be like dumping a 50hp motor in a 35hp machine, im sure it'd work great . . . for a while!

Pete may we be talking about greenmech chippers, but I have been told, and I am not mentioning who by, but on timberwolf it's a simple adjustment. Nothing has been changed apart from detuning

the pulley ratios have been changed on the new low hp jensen machines so not so easy to boost it back up again and some machines have a smaller  kubota engines,  not just a detuned old 35hp engine.

i would have thought a big appeal in a brand new chipper is the warranty, so to go and void that seems like a waste of money.

What warranty? Have you ever heard of someone actually successfully using it? 9 times out if 10, its wriggled out of.

The machines ran perfectly well on 35hp, so returning them back to 35hp from 25 is hardly going to cause anything to blow up.

It's a bit like re mapping a pick up. If it's done within parameters, not an issue.

Change is always a difficult thing for folk to accept, especially if is foisted on them by officialdom. I'm of that generation that automatically puts on a seat belt - even in the back seat, but my parents would have kicked back against having to wear a seat belt as a law if it wasn't for Mother going through the screen of a Beetle in the mid 60's!

 

Yes, you could cut the seal and wind up the rpm limit, change the pulleys to get the correct rotor speed and away you go. True,  the little 1505 has been a reliable lump but cutting the seal will void warranty and some would say that the environment needs protecting for the future and we have been instructed to do our bit!

No Stuart, that isn't the case. The Evo165 was designed as a heavier than 750kg unit built with the 1505 in mind and with a heavy rotor and strong infeed on a suitable chassis that could also handle a bigger engine.

Yes, but having lower horsepower means if takes longer to chip up than it did before, therefore running the chipper for longer, therefore putting out the same amount of carbon !

It's like when the eec  told us our kettles were too powerful., so haveing a kess powerful kettle took longer to boil, therefore using the same energy as the higher wattage one.
