Firewood identity

Hi folks,

I recently moved into a house with a wood burner and the previous owners had left me loads of wood (lucky me) however one of the logs I used was like an indoor firework spitting everywhere. I can't remember what it looked like but I don't think it was like the others. Anyway to save me the torture of dealing with a similar situation I was hoping you might be able to help identify some of the wood I have?

I have attached pictures labelled A-F and would really appreciate your help.

Many thanks

Damien

It doesn't matter, so long as it's dry, burn the lot!

(some pieces look a bit wet?)
Agreed, look a bit fresh to me as well. The split faces especially in B, and there's a bit of ivy on the log in C which hasn't dried out.

I think the previous owners have left the green unsplit logs behind, which is nice but is low value stuff I wouldn't bother shifting either.

Best to split everything and stack for next winter, it will all burn just fine. Buy in some dry wood for now, then at least you know where you are and you're not tarring up the chimney.
