Most people I sub for have em as standerd out kit list. Used as an when needed. Every tree is different & all aproches should be concidered. Anything to make life easy as pos :)

At 45 I find it much better to climb the first 25ft up a ladder

 

Sensable for most domestic trees I think as the norm branch structure after 25ft is quite ladder like I have found. Can speed things up on multipal tree jobs in close prox.:thumbup:

i have a good wee set that doubles up as step ladders with a 3rd piece for leaning over stuff, great for hedges and getting past epicormics or on to the top of horrible topped hollys, if it makes life easier, but i dont like them tbh, too wobly and bendy. i used to work on fixed one on the boats that were 100' from top to bottom, you soon learned to hang on, thats for sure lol
