Found some walnuts in garden working in today they were from neighbours tree they are massive, 

Photo is 1 next to large egg, anyone else seen ones this size.

The rooks round here are pulling them off the trees and flying off with them . There beaks are wide open when they fly by .

There are walnuts for oil, usually smaller, and walnuts for eating, usually bigger.

 

May well be wrong.

We went to Turkey a couple of years ago. We found some huge walnuts in a market one day, they looked to be a similar size to these.
I believe there are many types or varieties of walnuts, the ones we eat are just few. In China they have them in a range of sizes from pea to egg sized.

I brought a few back from Turkey and a couple germinated. One grew quite big in a pot but then died over winter when I planted it out. I think I planted in the wrong place and it got too wet.
