I looked it up, the Echo battery saw is given an IP rating which means protection against water splashing from any angle.

Also the battery is 2Ah which sounds tiny but total energy is volts times amps times time. Echo at 2Ah x 50V, Makita 6Ah x 18V. In other words the Echo battery sounds really small but actually equivalent to a normal battery drill, they've used Li-ion the same.

The only thing against the Echo is the price really.

you'll go to prison for that.

I shall have to place it on a long term loan to my son then, who has all necessary certificates, and buy a rear handle one.

if yer on Facebook lad i did a review last week or so on the 2500.  I will say that if i only had the money to buy 1 'micro saw' it would be the 2511 over the 2500 as they have more balls and really astound me with their abilities.

i have fitted an 8'' chain n' bar to the 2500.

I took pics. of both saws fully fuelled and oiled up, both with a 10 inch bar n' chain but no tool strop or carabiner attached. There is hardly anyting in it. 20200722_194220.thumb.jpg.5c795a2000f23463a9739b001f227747.jpg20200722_194150.thumb.jpg.804b159202e0eee6d23178f1ae13147c.jpg

Good research Dan. Thanks.
I seem to remember that the Stihl advertises 51 minutes run time while the Echo only 18 minutes.
That would be the decider for me, if that’s correct.
