Some of these masks people are wearing look completely useless and total waste of time .also to add to that not much social distancing going on in shops now  so in a way it was more effective before with at least the social distancing rules being respected .

We all spend a great deal of our lives doing what we are told, and on the whole it is a very good thing.

 

You would not want to live in a world where everyone just did what they thought was best for them.

 

Sometimes it is a good thing to make a stand against the prevailing winds, but often we can just build up a self righteous head of steam and start being a bit silly.

This morning ..... drove to work, stopped off a garage fr usual delicious pasties ( large ) n coffee, in my orange, put mask on.... saw copper ( metropolitans finest )  walk into premises,  eyeballs me ( in my mask , n orange hiivis all overs )  fumbles fr his mask hastily,  Hmmm,  no one in said premises wearing masks      ?  K

Indeed we do and I agree order is a good thing but the amount of experts, scientists or professors opinions you hear is dictated by wether or not their opinion conforms with the media hysteria version. The opinions, research and statistics of many others are never given any credence at all. The so called new normal is anything but. VI you often think I presume and post stuff way out of the box !!! There is nothing self righteous or silly in not wanting the mundane day to day activities and freedoms we have being controlled and eroded to a level that would have been unthinkable mere months ago.

Extraordinary times require some extraordinary measures.

 

I don't really understand this 'erosion of freedom' stance. If anything, the face covering rules seem very much to be an attempt to give us back our day to day activities and freedoms. As others have pointed out, no Government wants to shut down their own economy.

 

It is good to question authority but I can't help thinking that you have picked the wrong battle this time.

Not so much reason prevailing just an interpretation of what is reasonable and what isn’t in regards the reaction to this virus. The split on here is pretty obvious for anyone to see. 
Those whom are happy to go along with the lockdown and all it’s associated financial, social, mental health and knock on effects in regards the increases in deaths from other illness due to the focus on Covid. The other side of the coin are those whom think it’s been a badly managed huge over reaction driven by the media, self serving scientists with ludicrously over estimated predictions regarding casualties and politicians all too keen to enforce way over the top restrictions on every day life. 
To be honest as with Brexit or Tory/Labour etc etc one side ain’t gonna convince the other ?‍♂️.
