External Les, cabin will have large overhangs and some decent preservatives applied to the timber. It’s on an elevated base on a slope so air flow will be good around and under it.

Just use the traditional half lap joint and depending on the length i would be putting a hidden seal between the beams and a couple of inch dowels along the span.

save yourself a lot of grief, rout a groove into each face and fit a plywood spline, or if your really bothered fit 2, easier than finding someone with a moulder and the right knives to do it

and  if your stuck for a router on site......a 3/8 chain cuts a tight slot for 9mm ply..........dont ask !!!!

how many beams do you need machined? got two big moulders at Inverness and i'd happily have a profile made for that and future use etc.

graham w, youll find most of the "log cabin" profile cutters on the logosol site, they are expensive but they have the "d" profile and the double tounge and groove

Hi Graham 

looking at approx 40, 4800x245x75 to be done. 
totally flexible with the profile as long as it works. DIY tongue and groove is the back up plan. Beams are actually in Inverness at the moment as it happens.
