That’s just an assumption and not based on a single fact. Its an irrelevance.

If they own £770 million then they’ve most likely paid the same in tax, which I’m sure you’re grateful for.

Eating the rich is not the answer. It pure greed and jealousy.

Was it jealousy that built the guillotine?

It was an assumption, but lets face it people who employ thousands on low wages while they funnel the profits through tax avoidance schemes will be in that top 1000. Intelligent, hard working and ruthless.

No they haven't paid enough tax already imo, trust funders, cleverest tax consultants around - you know it

No, I don’t know it. What be both know is the top earners, the 1%, pays over 25% of Income Tax in the U.K. This 1% pays in more income tax than the bottom 90% combined. Chop their heads off, which you seem to indicate is the solution, and you’ll end a very much needed revenue stream. Stripping these ones of their wealth out of frustration and Marxists greed will bring a very short burst of funds but ultimately we’d end up like every other communist and socialist country. Broke and destitute.

I’m all for everyone getting back to work wherever possible (I never stopped), but to think C19 only affects coffin dodgers and fatties is simplistic in the extreme.

A massive second peak would be horrendous.

Childcare is an obvious issue for many, and just throwing open the school gates would be crazy.

The economic effect must be considered, but all this has made me think that the Bransons and Bezos et al could be doing a lot more in the future, and I’m far from being a Corbynite.

It is the same here.

€1500 handed out to self employed Brits here is actually more than many would have actually taken as a net wage.

That was a payout to small businesses (not just brits) to help them keep their heads above water if your turnover was 30% down in March and April, not furlough money for Salaried staff.

Sound a bit salty Stu, didn’t get yours?

Wife's a secondary teacher, nobody she knows in education can see how to open a school without just passing the virus round. Overall the teachers are pretty resistant to being exposed to all those kids.

The idea of opening reception classes is even more bonkers, no primary school can contain headlice transmission let alone the virus with the amount of snot and phlegm in the average primary classroom. Ah remember those days fondly...

I didn't need to apply, lockdown didn't restrict us and €1500 per month is a risible amount compared to what may be turned over.

Just continued as our normal busy self then got even busier during lockdown when others were refusing to work.

I couldn't get groundies at first so got used to self motivated lone working on small to medium jobs then with a local paysagiste whose own staff refused to work and an excellent climber who didn't qualify for the aid, between us we cracked on with the commune contracts without the public walking through our barriers or protesting our felling of trees.

I really enjoyed lockdown and positively profited from it and am slightly shellshocked by it being lifted and dealing with traffic and people again.

I felt the same after returning to the UK after cycling across Australia in 2009.

I do know that many self employed expats who could have worked safely were tempted by the governments largesse and the €1500 is actually more than they would net normally.

there are going to be a good few zombie businesses that have in effect already gone bump. deferred tax, vat and paye all spent but somehow paid back again. Furlough is merely putting off the massive redundancy wave.
