Advertising logs/trading standards

Be careful how you advertise your logs: i know someone who was advertising his as a 1 ton load and was delivering it in a 1 ton pickup. Trading standards got him as it was actually just over half a ton. He was fined £2500.

sell it by the load not weight !!!!,if sold in bulk bags sell it per bag, not what the bag can hold !!!

Sell by volume or load as said above. If you use weights you become part of weights and measures which means inspections and monitoring.

I would of thought you can advertise it in weighted bags if you advertise it correctly.

 

if you put logs for sale IN a 1ton builders bag, you are not sayin that its 1ton of logs but its in a 1ton builders bag which is what them bags are, you are only stating what they are packaged in.

Better to measure the bag then state the volume, they are only 1 ton bags when the product inside weighs a ton ie sand or stone.

I would agree with you, i advertise mine as a 1 ton pick up load, not 1 ton load of logs. Trouble is that both wordings make people think that they are going to get 1 ton of logs. I would just act ignorant if they pulled me.

Be vary careful, ignorance does not work in the eyes of the Law, YOU are supposed to know what you are selling and are responsable for it. I only sell in cubic meter bags, so every one is the same, i know what im selling and what the customer is getting, I dont do "Loads" as there is always some confusion as to what a "load" is.

Lol, yeah, its slow here, got a sh1te 2 day job to do but i aint rushing to do it in this weather, bit of commercial to come in but waiting to get the go a head. what you been doing then, sledging again.
