I am quite embarrassed to say this is in my area (though I didn't know about it).  What the hell are Newport City Council (the landowners) playing at?  And why have they not been taken to court.  There are laws about keeping public land free of litter, but this lot has been building up for over twenty years.

A closed section of road off the A48, near Coedkernew, Newport, thought never to have been used is now piled high...

Finally it has got into the press so maybe they will be shamed into taking action, but the clear up will cost millions.

Dont be silly, do you really think some one in upper management could work out that cameras would be the answer ? would,nt be enough paper work with cameras and dont forget they probably went to either Oxford or Cambridge !!!!!

Update: I have reported this to Newport City Council via their website.  Of course they are well aware of it already, but I am very interested to know what they say.  I will be taking it further in other ways also - I can't believe most of the local people are apparently content to just ignore tipping on this sort of scale.

I know councils are up against it but there comes a point when something has to be done.

Wales is like a 3rd world country this was local case:

A businessman who ran one of the biggest illegal waste dumps ever found in north Wales netted millions of pounds...

29,000 tonnes before any action taken.....

£44 million profit from illegal  dumps & who knows if they will ever clear it up.......

In Yorkshire every pull over, park up and country lane has black bags full of soil and crap from weed growers.
They are literally everywhere.
Quoted a job in the middle of nowhere a few weeks back.
There was 30-50 bin bags full of weed strewn all over the embankment, piles of ducting, lamps the whole lot.
