Been working on this approach with people for years, which has helped.

Sun's out and the winds picked up - it going to be the driest day underfoot for 6 months what a difference ! ?

From what HETAS  have told me the devil will be in the detail,  the small print has still to be worked out . 

My logs tested by HETAS averaged 21.7%  so back to the drawing board for me?

For reference, I'm just at the back of my woodstore now, with access to last years logs. So mainly larch, completely shielded from the weather, cut and split about 30 months ago. Transported down from Scotland at an average of 12% MC (the end of the roasting summer we had in 2018) and they are now averaging 21-22%.

 

Which is why the industry needs a cut off of 25%, not 20%. The environmental damage of people burning timber at 22% is far less than getting everyone to kiln dry to below 20, and then for the logs to creep back up and over 20% anyway.

I think I will charge for so many hours gardening and give the logs to the customer ?

the old barter system will come back, how many litres of petrol for a cube of logs ?? or a bog roll ??

So does that mean you don’t have to be registered if you supply over 2m3 loads ?

Can I still supply logs without being Woodsure approved this year or not ?anyone know ?as from what I’ve read I can’t make sense of it !also if I buy from a Woodsure reg company to sell on do I still need to be registered ???as the wood is Woodsure ?

Your sized operation you have until May 2021.

There is a lot more to becoming a 'Certified' supplier than just ensuring the timber you sell is below 20%MC.

Woodsure will answer any queries you may have.

They have a robust system in place to ensure no loopholes exist in case people feel like flouting the law!

Thats the way we are heading. Could have sold our supplies twice over this year so can probably sell out doing 2  cube loads only. Doubt the cash in hand boys will be affected so still plenty to supply the smaller buyers
