Hi guys thanks for your comments it means a lot ,Brown Oak is stunning but bloody expensive , I have a butt in the yard to mill and hopefully that will be nice and brown it looks it on the ends . I finished the table before crimbo but I wanted it to be a surprise for Simon so had to wait until he collected it to post some pics .

Lovely work. Sorry to derail but a local sawmill (who are not known for their generosity) sell brown oak off cheap as it is in their opinion flawed? the bloke there told me that it is a sign the tree is diseased? be interested to know others opinions?

I have had the same when trying to get enough together for a set of dining chairs. Couldn't believe my luck when they were selling it off cheaper than regular english oak (some years back)

Hi guys I have just been let down on 2 jobs so if anybody out there wants any furniture making do give me a shout, doesn’t it just piss you off when you go and look at a job go home spend ages putting a plan and quote together to then have the customer spout some crap and say sorry but you won’t be getting the job .
