Great stuff Stubby,

Could you take a few pictures next time you are there?

Charcoal production will get a few posts later in the thread. Last time I checked though Alan was a 'Walters', unless he has developed a nasty skin condition?

Yes you are correct mate . My missus is watching Emmerdale and I am on here but ... drinking Jamesons  Whisky ! ? Alum WALTers ?

My pleasure, no mention of the pump engineer at the ice cream factory but I'll let it ride as not to derail this cracker of a thread.

I really enjoy finding out people's back story.

I'm a sucker for a good old fashioned derail!

Whilst I was off sticking my nose into other people's Woods we suffered a catastrophic pump failure in the ice cream production room.

We had to sort it quick smart or we were almost certainly doomed.

DOOMED I tell thee.

Who should turn up at the door, spanners in hand, but our own eggy rascal!

God the pump shipshape in triple quick time and saved the day.

Apologies Eggs for the obligatory personal hygiene questions.

Great thread Graham there was an interesting article last week on the East Anglian aviation history Facebook page about the airbase at a Raydon. I won’t clog the thread up with all the pictures and blurb but there were a couple of old aerial shots of the airbase and Great wood. IMG_0559.jpgIMG_0560.jpg

Great find Andy.

That first picture pretty clearly shows the concrete road network.

Thanks for posting.

@the village idiotThank you for your time to write this all down, As has been said cracking thread and project

Thanks Will,

I'm just really pleased that you are all so interested.

Most people with an interest in working with trees go into tree surgery, and for very good reasons, but there are a great many unmanaged Woods out there. It's a fabulous lifestyle choice if people are in a position to give it a go.
