Totally agree with this statement 

seems like the OP wants to blame someone for his cock up if you get any courier to leave it in a safe place "define safe place" a book leave it by the dustbin but 2 grands worth of gear  and you get robbed your a mug and lets start playing the blame game 

why should the supplier be blamed or DPD

Mite as well say leave it at the nearest trav sight .

I doubt nowadays that any "safe place" is actually safe and theres no way i would have 2 grands worth of kit delivered and not be there infact i wouldn,t have it delivered in the 1st place i always use local and collect

Well it all hinges on how and where they were left.  Even couriers have a duty of care.  
 

I do agree though it is maybe a little foolish trusting that a courier will leave them In a sensible place.

The thing with a safe place is if some thieving little twat sees the driver knock at your door get no answer and sees him go into the back garden and come back empty handed the thief knows roughly where the parcel is from the outset.
