BRAND NEW ELECTRIC COOKER.

Went shopping for a new lecy cooker last week{under severe protest,to no avail]sister insisted,anyway down to currys,seen one she liked,£300+20 for delivery,now,here is the twist,£80 to wire it up, na your ok mate,will manage masel,cooker duly arrived today,guess what, minus the wire to connect to mains,they all come like that nowadays currys driver informed sister.I DONT BELIEVE IT.£80 bucks for ten mins work,im in the wrong profession.

Yep had the same thing happen last year,wanna going to pay 80 quid to wire it so it came with no cable just like yours

I think? electric cookers came sans cable even 20 to 25 years ago, when I fitted ours.

But due to my inveterate skip hoking and hoarding, I had enough cooker weight wire to do.

Curry's not on my favourite list, went to store to get gas cooker which was mains gas and we run lpg so needed change kit turns out it do come with 1 when it said it don't .

Best was store could not get one delivered for 3 weeks and i went home and order through curry's online and got 1 in 3 days.

Technically you shouldn't be wiring anything more than a plug not even in your own house. I can't say a lot mind, I work on control panels and I'm not a sparky.

Ah connected the gas up too, and repeated both excercises again recently when the daughter bought her Mum a flash new Bertazzoni cooker.

Also rewired the consumer unit, to tidy it up.

I am not an electrician, but  .  .  .

Never known one come with a cable (except possibly a 'baby belling').

I have always used the greasy skanky one that was attached to the old cooker.

 

 

 

But then, i'm not a 'lectrician.

Yep, done most of those things, and been chucked off a site when I was caught by a safety auditor working in a 3 phase panel with no tickets.
