I did wonder about the bar and chain but tried it on a different machine and working fine

What would be correct tools for this if tractor can’t fit in and hedger trimmers no good

A bigger gate :D

Finger bar on an excavator?

You haven't posted a photo.

How thick is the stuff you're trying to cut?

The chainsaw hedgecutter attachment is useful but pricey for what it is

I'd recommend an ms150, and something like some hs45 short arms or the 86, I've topped many hedges using these, knock the thick stuff out with the saw, and trim the edges with the trimmers, all you'll have to do from the floor is the face and the very top edge. If your super good, you can loose loads of the stuff in the hedge using a reciprocating cut [emoji108] Dont loose your sense of humour, you'll get through it

A climbing harness, side strop and a nicely tuned 150t or equivalent.

Just get in there, sheer bloody determination is key.
