And broad-sweeping ideas don't always make sense. We live on a small Dartmoor farm and all we can grow is grass so it's sheep or beef around here. Clearly, cows that never see grass and live on soya based feeds are far worse for CO2 than some hill sheep living on grass.

I just did the quiz, as honest as possible. I hit 31t [emoji50] but to be honest some of that could have been taken by my wife. Ie, I dont live in my house alone, she needs the heating cranked up over 24c and obviously the pets are not all mine. I included Duck and Chicken feed in that too. [emoji3] 
 
You have to be congratulated for your efforts though. [emoji4] Hopefully one day I'll get my consumption lower. I'm still gonna travel to the Caribbean each year though.

It's pretty complicated though. Much of the problem with cows is due to the large swathes of land deforested to produce grazing. 

 

From a CO2 perspective it would be better if they were tightly packed into sheds and not grazed. We obviously don't want to go there though.

 

Upland Sheep grazing is also a bit of an environmental disaster area.

 

Meat is just a big problem full stop.
