Makes me wonder why they didnt keep an easy access air filter.... bit crap having to unbolt the top and lift off. I prefer the old saws quick un screw or turn clip qnd its off.

Might end up with one anyhow as

could do with a newer 70cc saw but not keen on mtronic (will have to get over that lol)

Recent CE rules put manufacturers in a tricky position - operator must not be able to reach hot/moving mechanical parts without tools. For chainsaws this means either toolless access to air filter only, or big cover that makes also cylinder easy to access but with a help of a tool. From that standpoint seeing/cleaning cylinder fins everytime you undo 3 clips for air filter is way better.

Presumably those are the push and twist 90degree pop off like the 261 though? Doesn't take any longer than undoing the screw on the 461 really, although I guess you do have to find a combi spanner.

Been running mine for several months on a 25” bar, had a lot of saws come and go but this to my mind is their best one yet, no problems, impressive weight and balance and goes like a train.

With a little practice the top cover comes off in seconds to knock out the filter on the heel of your boot.

Good saw all round- would not use for production cutting tho as too fragile!

weak points are the top cover you mentioned with the 90* twist locks

hd2 air filter lets too much small particle through-there is another filter available!!

Fuel solinoid can be troublesome-there are different types available

Rear handle has come apart in my hands twice as only mounted by prongs so clean the recess should solve this.

If it lasts a year il be happy, these are just my findings from cutting a lot of hardwood!!
