I asked for engine serial number.. still waiting... But to be honest I don't want to be involved. I have been paid by insurance company so there is no benifit to me.. The police were useless and not willing to investigate.. I guess you can't blame them as they don't have the resources..

If you asked the seller for engine serial number and they dont reply they are scum. Any honest person would simply go and take a photo.

Control box looks different as well? I guess so detail pics of the paint job would help as you could see if it used to be orange.

the control box looks identical to me, zoom in. If was dealing with stolen machinery maybe i would consider paint stripper or a heat gun to remove all traces of the original colour

What annoys with most with ebay is their " bury the head in the sand" attitude when it comes to stolen equipment. You cannot report it to them unless you are a law enforcement officer, and since the police will not investigage, this sort of crime will go unpunished.

Flush them out. Everytime i see the same stolen crusher come up on ebay, i merrily ask for the serial number so i can verify its operating system. They take it down and wait a few months, before relisiting it usually at extreme ends of the country.

Can you ask them for the engine serial number? If its genuine, they wont mind giving it

Yes totaly agree Ebay do not want to know when there is a problem and if there is a seriouse problem they seem to be about as much help as a windscreen wiper on a submarine,

I hear what you're saying but let's face it, tons of cars, vans, trucks are sold on auction sites each week, how many buyers ask to see the logbook so they can check it against the VIN plate. I've nothing to back this up but I'd have a pound that most people are the same with low"ish cost machinery.

If u buy at auction the car will not be stolen, the auction company check that, many auction cars won't even have a log book and u have to send away for it.

Depending on the auction house/price of car it may also be HPI checked, really after a garage an auction is 1 of the safest ways to buy plant/equipment

Someone i know got caught out buying an od tractor to sell at auction, turned out it had been 'stolen' 15 years ppreviously only to turn up in a different shed. Just an insurance scam

He someohow found out before he put it in the sale as auctioneers would not accept it  and managed to get his money back eventually after threatening a few things

I should have made myself a little more clear. I was referring to online auction sites like eBay.
