Stolen chipper spotted on ebay..

That must be very frustrating dig-dug-dan,

A pity the insurance companies would not sponsor or set up an office/officer to attempt to recover goods/machinery they have paid out on?

Sounds like a "handy number" for a moonlighting or retired Police Officer surely?

Marcus

P.S.

Regardless of whether the present owner was the thief, I understood that one stood to loose any property, that turned out to be previously stolen, despite being "honestly" bought and paid for, like a car for instance.

Simply tough, and presumably is deliberately so, so as to attempt to dissuade persons from buying stuff, nudge nudge, wink wink, that "fell off the back of a truck"

ebay are a thieves friend alright.

Whether the bloke who now owns the machine was the original thief or not, he’s still guilty.

People buying nicked gear are as bad as the thieves.

The police attitude is disgraceful.

It’s a guaranteed result, on a plate!

What more do they want ffs?

I asked for engine serial number.. still waiting... But to be honest I don't want to be involved. I have been paid by insurance company so there is no benifit to me.. The police were useless and not willing to investigate.. I guess you can't blame them as they don't have the resources..

Mmmm, only if he knew it was stolen when he got it.

I've bought loads of things off eBay and not checked if they were stolen. In fact I've just put five machines from the same seller on my watch list.

I hear what you're saying but let's face it, tons of cars, vans, trucks are sold on auction sites each week, how many buyers ask to see the logbook so they can check it against the VIN plate. I've nothing to back this up but I'd have a pound that most people are the same with low"ish cost machinery.
