Got 4 gun barrel straight 2.5m x 18" lengths of Ash sawlogs here.

Knowone ever seems interested in buying slabs of Ash but they are so good that I am considering milling then all at 55mm, stickering up for 18 months and seeing if anyone is interested when the country has settled down.

Any comments appreciated.

I did a few waney edge its of Ash early 2020. all at 50mm

Dead tree and so dry a lad has already turned them into a beautiful outdoor bar..

I'll look for pics.

Give em a go. I would. If only I could get anything..... 😞

I couldn't get any interest in nice straight clean lengths of ash either.  Between 6 and 12 inches diameter, knot-free, I tried the woodturner's forum on facewipe and no response there either.  Ended up as firewood...

Maybe try a restorer of old carriages, wagons and wheels - lot of ash was used there, I reckon.

Hi Les, Not sure. Dead as disco due to dieback and some of the limbs were stone dead.

I would bet money on it as milled a big one last summer with exactly the same river like grain running through it

Yeah as long as you have the space to put them to dry properly then mill them.  I know it is all about finding your customers but I find Ash very popular.  I mainly sell thin stock I would say, 19mm, 25mm, 32mm and 38mm, but also some 50mm.

What is it used for?  Many specialised uses (yurts, cars, bows tool handles), but more commonly: shelves, kitchens, any indoor furniture, mirror frames.
