On another note Andy and de railing the subject .....
How do you find that modelIMG_1644779030.512479.thumb.jpg.a9f6f34f590121158c9f65ae61b6ee8b.jpg esse ?? Are you using it for cooking and heating or is it more of a show thing ?
I'm tempted to get one over this model that's in the main house that does all the cooking.

I’ve fancied an Esse since I seen them on River Cottage. Funnily enough it replaced an oil fired Rayburn that obviously did the cooking but also the hot water and central heating. It drank oil though. So bought the Esse and a 30kw outdoor Oil boiler. Put in a 280l dual indirect coil water tank and had my brother-in-law plum the lot in. So now the Esse does the heating in the kitchen area, 90% of the cooking and the hot water. The Oil Boiler does the heating first thing in the morning and tops the hot water off if needed, ie the 18 year old lass has spent the morning under the power shower🤣

The Esse looks the part in the old Farmhouse, costs me nothing to run and is great during the recent power cuts.

We’ve a 10kw stove in the living room as well so we use very little oil these days.

Started on oak today, hit iron a couple of times. Ripped off some cutters and snapped another chain. But got some boards done. Using the 881 with 64” bar.

Yep a real pain, something pretty big in the middle of the trunk. Some hefty lugs in there I reckon. Bloody thing.....

But the 881 is certainly a joy to use. Going to have to get a panther mill and a lot more chain soon.

So how different is the 881 to the 880 if you have used both

The 881 feels more streamlined as a saw I suppose. Still breaking it in, but nice and easy start. Tidy looking. [emoji106]
