Hi guys got an oldish 200t that started playing up yesterday. If I press the throttle it starts to rev and then drops, if i keep on the throttle it will cut out and require choking to start again. I’m  thinking it might be fuel related but I don’t know if anyone has had similar trouble, any help would be apreciated,

cheers

Could be fuel related, check your impulse line too.

Hello Jack had a similar thing happen to our oldish 200t thought it was maybe a fuel line spilt or something so did a bit of youtubeing tried a bit of carb adjustment to no avail then realised it was the fuel cap seal that had perished worth a look before you start  stripping

Had this problem happen twice, both times was fuel related. First time it was the fuel line and breather pipe, was an easy/cheap fix. Had it happen again and turned out to be a load of shit in the little mesh filter in the carb. Put a new one on but could have just got a carb kit tbh.

Like Essexlogman says I’d try the simple cheap stuff first! Had a shop tell me that it was the carb the first time it happened which then cost me £££s for it not to be sorted!

Shyte in the gauze strainer, split inlet manifold, split fuel line, perforated pump gasket, someone has rebuilt it badly or give it to someone who knows what they are doing. You may have nipped the piston up if you have been running it lean....just saying!

Some of the above suggestions are a bit suspect IMO!

Ok thanks for everyone’s help, I will try the easy stuff but I think I’ll send it to someone who knows what they’re doing after that haha. Anyone recommend maintaince/repair specialists in the midlands?
