The Fir has to be pretty exceptional for me to bother milling, and this tree was subpar. I was simply getting this thing on the ground, so was quest-a-mating the log lengths to get them to lay relatively flat. If I am getting wood on the ground for lumber I always tape off my logs, so as to minimize waste.

Do you measure the chunks on the way down to reduce wastage, or are you guesstimating?

Have done it in the past loggers tape from base and mark on the way up, ready for chog chog on the way down

Took me about 3.5 hours to get it on the ground. The vid doesn't show it, but I had to speed line all the limbs onto the road for cleanup.
